AND THE ASSIGNMENT ISto write a sonnet. In a way, they are essays written in verse! Sonnets usually pose a question of a sort, explore the ideas raised by the question, and then come to a conclusion.
Traditionally, sonnets are 14-line poems. There are several traditional rhyme schemes, including the Petrarchan, Spenserian, and Shakespearean sonnets.

“Can you write something romantic, like you did before we wed,
“Moon-lit walks, hand-in-hand, just the two of us,” she said.
“Or the candlelit bubble bath … with wine, if I recall;
“When you decided you would join me, and you jumped in clothes and all!”

hottub“I still wonder what possessed you (We were not home that night);
“That hot tub was eight feet deep, when you disappeared from sight!”
“You thrashed, you splashed, which made me laugh as you were a-reeling;
“The tub had been filled to the brim, and the bubbles reached the ceiling!”

“When you safely reached the surface, I gave you a loving hug;
“Before I exited the hot tub and stepped out on the rug,
“It was to be expected, water spillage I could see:
“But the water soaked into the carpet and made a purple sea!”
