You analyze very carefully. I did not know so many things could damage a tombstone — floods, runoff, lichens. That is a sobering reality. I’m reminded of Shakespeare’s sonnet, “Not marble, nor the gilded monuments / Of princes, shall outlive this powerful rhyme . . .”
